Question: I stored my motorcycle away all winter season, and now the engine wont start.?
( Back )
Answer #1:
replace the battery.also check and clean the carburetor
Answer #2:
you need a real charger. The jumpers don't charge a battery right, they just jumpstart. Put it on a 2 amp charge overnight with an automatic charger. It should be fine. I hope you didn't leave the battery in the bike all winter. It should be kept in a cool but above freezing place for long term storage.Answer #3:
This is what I do. Before storing it for the winter, mix in some fuel stabilizer with the gas. Motorcycle carbs have screws on the bottom of the bowls so you can drain them. Then keep the battery on a battery maintainer type charger. Once motorcycle batteries discharge for any length of time, they go bad. Walmart sells a cheap battery maintainer charger for about $20. I have been using these for years with good results and my batteries last for many years now.Answer #4:
A portable jump start is only good enough to give the bike enough power to start. What you need to do is remove the battery and charge it properly with a suitable
motorcycle battery charger on a trickle charge for about 12 hrs. A fully charged
battery should have around 12.5 - 13 volts in it with no electrical load such as lights on.
If after charging and the battery does not keep its charge then you have a problem and
you should take the bike back to the dealers who should check it over and correct the
fault.
Answer #5:
When a battery is completely discharged, it is time to replace it.A dead battery will lose it's capability to hold a charge.
It will never come back to life.
Next winter, follow the proper storage procedures to prevent this
and other problems from happening.
Answer #6:
replace the battery and maybe the fuel have fun riddin'!!!Answer #7:
Get an 1amp to 2 amp motorcycle battery charger and charge the battery. You'll have to let it charge over night. (Disconnect the battery before you charge it and refrain from jump starting the bike. You could destroy the electronics doing so). After that you should be good to go. If you charge the battery and it doesn't start the next day after sitting the night before you have a bad charging system or bad battery although I don't believe that is the case. Worse case scenario you have a bad battery but I don't think so. Next year when you park it for the winter either drain the gas tank or fill it full and add fuel stabilizer to the tank, change your oil and filter and buy a Battery Tender and connect it to your battery for the entire winter. This will keep the battery charged automatically when it needs charged and your bike will be ready for the riding season next year. Good Luck** Powered by Yahoo Answers
